Companies can't remove reviews or game the system. Here's why

We had two large hiring influxes over the last year that we needed a way to coordinate and funnel candidates through. Having thousands of applicants makes the funnel process super important and Lever helped us set this up. Lever also provided the job description pages that we had everyone apply through so that we had a standardized structure for applications
  • Funnels candidates from start to finish of the process
  • Allows for scheduling interview with candidates
  • Their scheduling tool is super rigid and doesn't support multiple interviewers very well
  • The product requires quite a bit of setup before it becomes as efficient as you'd like
Lever probably has too much overhead for a company of our size and we would frequently run into issues that would require an outsized amount of effort to resolve

We use Lever as our Applicant Tracking System (ATS) for candidates we're reaching out to or speaking with about open roles we're trying to fill. We have it integrated with LinkedIn Recruiter, as well as ContactOut to source personal emails and phone numbers. We also use their integration with Grayscale for SMS capability. We've found Lever easy to use, pretty intuitive, and the set-up has been fairly painless.
  • Scrape candidates from LinkedIn Recruiter directly into Lever.
  • Scheduling candidates for the various steps in their interview process is easy .
  • Creating scorecards for interviewers to use keeps the momentum going in the interview process.
  • Moving candidates through the various pipeline stages is simple.
  • Support. It's a hit or miss and when you're a new customer, this is unacceptable.
  • They need a task reminder feature native to Lever. This doesn't currently exist, and we have to use a third-party tool.
We don't have a large company, but based on what I've seen with Lever's capabilities, it has plenty of features and integration capability to serve a company with a hundred users or more.

Prior to Lever, we didn't have or use any ATS. Lever was not just a solution to a problem for us, but also the tool we planned to use to build, scale and grow our early stage, Series A startup. We went from using Airtable to track our applications and notes, to using Lever's full suite of offerings to manage top of funnel, pipeline, and hiring. We used Zenefits to send our offer letters. But Lever allowed us to create more efficient processes, provide stronger support and resources for our Hiring Managers, and most importantly, create a consistent, fair, and enjoyable experience for our candidates, whether we ended up hiring them or not.
  • The pipeline view for tracking our applicants is awesome - something that Greenhouse and others could work on a bit.
  • Reporting is strong - easy to create dashboards and ongoing reports to be sent out directly to stakeholders. Helps save a lot of time and create a data driven environment.
  • Onboarding and Customer Support - always the best and quickest replies. Onboarding was a breeze, they were super organized and on top of every single detail. Got us started on the right path and it was easy from there on our own!
  • Emails - being able to add a Signature would be massive. Not sure if that is something that has been added since we stopped using Lever (we got acquired by DoorDash, so we now use Greenhouse through their systems), but that was the reason I didn't send emails directly through Lever often at all - doesn't look professional without the signature.
  • Resume parsing - sometimes, it would take the incorrect info for the email or phone number, or just not pull anything at all when the info is clearly on the resume. So maybe working on how and what gets pulled from emails on applications, would be great.
  • The look and design of the standard career page is a bit bland. Totally understand branding it as Lever, but options to adjust or do more with it would be fun!
I think Lever is great for any sized company, but especially strong for smaller, growing teams. It's a very simple system, but clean, sleek, and very useful in any scenario. They have great support whenever you need it so those with smaller HR or People teams could easily benefit from their help. Can't think of too many scenarios where Lever wouldn't be well-suited, but maybe once you grow to International growth and hiring, it may be better to have a more Enterprise style business, set up for larger scaling.

We are using Lever as our Applicant Tracking System (ATS). We have also integrated with Checkr to run background and drug screens once the candidate has accepted the offer. Lever begins with an array of possibilities when a candidate first applies. I love the quick review feature where you can quickly move through new applicants/resumes and determine if they should move forward to the manager review or not the right fit for the position. From there you are able to place them into the archives along with the reasoning, "not a good fit", "not the right location", "position has been filled" - these are all set up according to our custom needs, which means if things change, we are also able to change with quick help from Customer Service. <br>
  • Reminders to contact candidates who have not been contacted.
  • Ease of setting interview schedules and feedback forms within the system.
  • Reminders to complete interview feedback forms after the interview.
  • We have a couple of unique needs as far as job postings - it would be helpful to either eliminate the location or be able to use "multiple locations" as a default, but Lever has not been able to refine that for us yet.
  • We have not actually been using the feature of generating the offer letter yet, again because we have some unique needs and we haven't had "buy in" from all management yet. We are still sending an individualized offer letter to every candidate.
Lever really is a user friendly application. It is very intuitive. I like that I can make notes within a candidates file and tag other members of management to view the resume/application without having to download everything and send in an email. Also, any emails to and from the candidate are synced which is a good way to track correspondence. We are a small volume hiring company, but I think a lot of the features would be put to great use by a larger company than ours.

Lever is essential for our organization, specifically for our HR department! It is being used to manage our hiring process. The tool has helped our organization source, manage and nurture candidates that are looking to work at our organization. Our HR department manages the platform but all of our departments use it: sales, engineering, customer success, marketing, and finance. The majority of departments at our organization use the tool to refer candidates.
  • Integrations with other systems
  • Reporting
  • Ease of use for all departments
  • Conversation threads do not appear in Lever
  • Reporting can be difficult to understand at first
  • Doesn't have direct integration with Indeed and Zip Recruiter
Our organization is growing rapidly at this moment and this tool is a huge improvement from what we previously used. This tool is essential for our organization because of how fast we're growing. Our HR team loves how they can keep notes on people who are applying. They love the improved communication with hiring managers and great reporting which has led to an improved experience. We also love the ease of use for referring candidates.

In my company Lever is being used across all departments. All candidates who wants to apply for a position has to go through Lever.
Since we're actively hiring new folks Lever helps organize the open positions and applications, keep track of interviews and their statuses, manage referrals and more. From an employee perspective, Lever helps me refer anyone I know who might a best fit for a position and also keep track of their progress through several stages of interviews.
  • Easy to use
  • Great support for implementation
  • Everyone on interview process have access
  • Different levels of access
  • Could have better LinkedIn integration
  • Lack of dedicated manager dashboard
  • Reporting can be improved
Lever is well suited for fast growing startups who are actively hiring. For larger organizations Lever might not have all the granular control which they might be looking for from a platform like this.
Since Lever is easy to setup and has great implementation support, it adds to the fact that smaller companies can take advantage of this.

We have used Lever since October 2019 as our first ATS. All hiring teams utilize Lever and it is the main tool for our recruiting efforts besides LinkedIn.
  • Job posting page integrates with website
  • Email candidates directly to set up phone screens with EasyBook Links
  • Schedules interviews in the platform
  • [In my experience,] terrible customer support - pay more to get less...
  • Integrations are spotty and can break without reason
  • Lever has so much potential, but their Roadmap is lacking in ways that will really help customers succeed
  • Focuses on the number of candidates and not the company's need to build talent in a cost effective, data driven and collaborative way
  • Overpromised and underdelivered in [the] capability of the tool. [I believe that you should] not trust your sales team.
Great if you are a big company with loads of money to spend on service to support your efforts. Must have low expectations of how it will help you find better talent. Make sure you have an in-house Lever tech person to help you as [in my experience] you won't get much help from their support team.

Lever is currently the Hub Project's main applicant tracking system in addition to external job websites. We use it in the hiring process to fill vacant roles across the organization. The Operations team handles the day-to-day interviewing and routine ATS tasks in Lever. It is effective and efficient.
  • Lever keeps gives its users frequent job reports (i.e. number of applicants, etc.).
  • Lever ensures that all prospectives candidates are in one place.
  • Lever keeps track of the amount of time that has elapsed from submitting the application to the interview.
  • Lever reminds its users consistently on new functions and features.
  • Customer support could be better. I once asked Lever to export over a thousand resumes into our system and they were slow to respond.
  • In lieu of real time support, Lever should have a FAQ page with webinars and videos.
  • Lever can have a better ATS dashboard to glean top line information quickly.
Lever is a good applicant tracking system. It suits a majority of our needs at the Hub Project. It is inexpensive, effective, and efficient. If your organization has money to spend, however, then I would recommend Greenhouse because they are better and have more advanced features and functions. Although, you get your bang for your buck with Lever.

We used Lever for several months as a trial, during a period of reevaluating our recruiting and hiring pipeline process. Even though we ultimately went with another vendor, we learned a lot of best practices from Lever and would still recommend it to others based on certain criteria. Namely, the support for integrations with major 3rd party vendors like GSuite, LinkedIn, and Slack were impressive and saved a lot of work. Secondly, the interview scheduling feature was the best out of all the vendors we evaluated, and would be a game-changer for any organization that struggles with keeping up with scheduling tasks.
  • Scheduling management is a breeze.
  • 3rd party integrations are well-designed.
  • UI is snappy and responsive.
  • As others have mentioned, the single sign on feature does not play well with API access.
  • UI can be a bit busy.
  • Price point not worth it for us.
Well suited for organizations that struggle to keep up with a huge pipeline of applicants and interviews. The automatic scheduling feature would be a huge time-saver in this area for many teams.

Lever is a great system for managing candidates and new hires. It makes work easier and more efficient and the platform is not too difficult to use. The UI can be a bit tough at times but for the most part, it seems to work well. It allows us to save a lot of time when it comes to the new hire process.
  • Intuitive system.
  • Data export.
  • Access levels.
  • Integrations.
  • Templates.
Lever is great for any company that spends a lot of time in the hiring process. It allows you to trim off a lot of time by automating some of the administrative work and making sure that everything is organized.

Lever is currently being used across our whole organization as the preferred tool for organizing recruitment and the overall process from posting job, interview, review, and finally, making an offer.
  • A lot of integrations with various tools, e.g., Slack, google suite, LinkedIn
  • form customizations
  • Auditing, e.g., see the history who has accessed the profile
  • History or revision
If you are an organization that is looking to consolidate, organize the recruitment process -- Lever tool is definitely for you. On the other hand, if it's a smaller company, you would have to invest a lot since someone needs to maintain the configuration of the recruitment process and it might be tedious.

We use Lever as our tool for evaluating and tracking potential job candidates within our system. It links to our online application portal, we use it to provide feedback on candidates during the interview process, and it can be used when we submit referrals on new hires.
  • Easy to use
  • Integrated system
  • Price point for use
Lever works well for our organization's needs, wouldn't be necessary for small biz, but it is great to manage hiring and interviewing for our company.

Lever is our primary recruiting tool and it is used throughout the entire company. We use their UI for job postings and also their internal functionality for looking at candidates, setting up interviews and reviewing candidates. We have it integrated with a few other products as well in order to link test scores for recruitment exercises.
  • Integration with 3rd party tools (e.g. Hackerrank, LinkedIn).
  • UI for seeing candidates and providing feedback.
  • A bit crowded to view threads of conversation/comments on candidates.
  • Font and layout could be updated/modernized.
Lever is a great tool to use for large company's recruitment and hiring needs. I have not worked with a better 3rd party platform to do this. The one callout is Lever does not integrate with all 3rd party test-taking tools.

Lever is used as a recruiting and referral program for finding candidates for employment. Lever is used by all employees to submit referrals for job postings, and the talent acquisition/recruitment team uses Lever to reach out to candidates, schedule interviews, keep notes, and push candidates through the hiring workflow. Those who are part of the hiring committee, or been asked to participate in an interview are given tasks to review the candidates resume and provide feedback from the interview. Lever keeps everything centralized and keeps the workflow moving.
  • Keeps candidates information and interview notes organized
  • The interface is pretty simple to navigate
  • Provides a public facing page to list all of your available job postings
  • Product offering levels seems to be mismatched. You can get single sign on, but API access is separate. Turning on SSO will break the API.
  • The integration into G Suite for mail and calendar when using subdomains and SSO.
  • Doesn't support the use of multiple sub domains very well. We ended up accidentally duplicated every user account and then temporarily lost all candidate notes and feedback.
Lever is good as an introductory hiring management solution where you start receiving 50 - 100 applications for a position. It works well with a smaller number of candidates and when there are fewer people involved in the process. Once you start getting several hundred people into the system and you are implementing things like SSO, which most enterprise companies use, things become very complicated and can get messed up very easily.

Just doesn't work. Messed up all of our scheduling because "Easybook" links do not support google hangout interviews.
Times zones are all messed up - we lost candidates because of platform issues.
I went in being hopeful and super optimistic. After 4 months of using Lever, we had to go back to our ATS provider. Such a waste of time and money.
  • Nurture - works
  • Integrations
  • Not easy to customize
  • Job board view is a bit redundant/confusing - departments and team view organization is not clean
  • Easybook links not compatible with google hangouts
  • Timezone issues during scheduling
  • Really bad customer support
Lever is for the true recruiter who needs their ATS to be a single source of truth but can be a bit dogmatic, whereas Greenhouse is for someone who has a lot of time on their hands to work on feature/function customizations. Also, CRM capabilities are included in your core Lever package, in comparison to Greenhouse, who is now charging talent teams PER seat for CRM capabilities they consider be ancillary.

We, the total organization, are using Lever for the whole candidate management process (ATS), means from search, via interviews to contract closure. Lever helps us to manage the candidates and to generate high-quality results for our customers.
  • Simple to learn user interface - It is easy to learn Lever very quickly. It has a modern user interface, is straight forward and is fully cloud based. Means everyone has access to the system which underlines modern working flexibility.
  • Professional Workflow and simple in adapting companies' requirements - There are possibilities to generate email templates, feedback forms, and other templates to be much quicker in terms of reacting to candidate's communication. It helps to set up a structured workflow so that candidates flow to the next stage by defining simple events. In addition, Microsoft and Google email systems and integrations are properly available now.
  • Very good and quick support - To use the integration service from Lever is really helpful and great. Every company gets a supporter who sets up the requirements with the customer. I personally appreciated the support very much because it was very kind, quick and helpful.
  • Additional tools for searching, social network integration and structured interviewing - These are additional resources which are available in the full version package which could be good but at a much higher price point.
  • Price structure and available tools - As already mention in the PROS section there are a lot of tools available but at a very high price point and only in total or not. There should be more flexibility by having some choices for some additional money.
  • In general less problems - There are some spaces for improvements but these are no critical ones. Major point is the possibility to jump between the separate resources. Sometimes you have to close first before you can select the next option.
  • Presentation Layer of existing information - Sometimes the way existing information is presented could be optimized and should be more and better window oriented (window size is more or less fix).
1. Standard Version very nice to handle all candidates and pools in a professional and structured way. 2. Enterprise Version Total process including the search and job description presentation far better than in the standard version.
